I cant believe its December

Wow... It seems like time is going so fast. I am blogging slower than I am creating right now so I feel very behind.  Swirlydoos has already started the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge. I was very excited when I saw the blog post and I had wanted to give the challenges a try. Unfortunately, they are on Day 5 right now and I was only able to complete days 1 and 2 so far. The challenges are posted every morning around 4am so its nice to see what the Design Team has created for the day.

For Day 1 challenge, we were required to create a tag that must include Santa, metal and the color red. I tend to run away from tag challenges so I decided to give this a try.  For my tag, I used the only christmas kit I own from December 2011. I was able to contain all the items needed just from this one kit. For my background I always try to use as much mixed medium as I can on a project. I used gel medium to attach the Tim Holtz tissue paper to the manilla number 8 size tag. I used my prima bubbles stencil to add viva decor modeling cream in pearl. Then I added the rest of the embellies that was included in the kit.

For Day 2 challenge, we were required to create a tag using the color white, silver and wings. For this challenge, I had the opportunity to use some mixed medium and some products I never opened. To create my background, I used gesso to paint the manilla number 8 size tag. I added modeling paste with the prima crackle stencil. I sprayed abdominable snow glimmermist over the background when everything was dried. For my dressform, I used a chipboard created from the tim holtz dress form die and altered it with brushed pewter distress stain. I love that distress stain. I do not know why I never used it. I took silver ribbon, silver stickles and part of the title bling to create the dress. Then I added a few embellies from my stash to finish the tag.

"Birthday Girl" - Swirlydoos and Blue Fern Studios

Oops, I almost forgot to enter this layout in the Blue Fern Studios November Sketch Challenge. I created this layout for the Swirlydoos November Round Robin Challenge approximately three weeks ago for round 1. For the Swirlydoos challenge, we were required to use a photo that had food included. So for this challenge, I was inspired by the blue fern studios sketch and the chippy used for my daughter first birthday photo.

For this layout, I used an older BoBunny Swirlydoos kit that had the Gabrielle papers and combined it with the October kit which included the BoBunny The Avenues papers. I altered the chipboard with aged teal stampendous enamel.

Supplies:
Papers: BoBunny Gabrielle and The Avenues
Flowers: Petaloo
Chipboard : Blue Fern Studios
Mixed Media: Shimmerz Teal Me No Lies, Tattered Angels Vintage Pink,
Tools: Crafters Workshop, Martha Stewart,

Happy Birthday - Swirlydoos

Hi Everyone,

Here is a card that I am finally able to post that was created for my mom's birthday. It was also submitted for the Swirlydoos Card Round Robin for September. This card was also sent with a writing desk that I altered and I added homemade notecards, blank cards, and a couple store bought items I know that she would use... or at least set out as decoration. LOL.

For this card, I went to an very old Swirlydoos kit that contained the Prima Almanac paper line. I love this line alot. In a future post, I will show a few pictures of the homemade note cards in her writing desk.

Just for you - Swirlydoos

Hi Everyone,

Here is a card I created for last months October Card RR for Swirlydoos Kit Club. I had a wonderful team of Swirlygirls creations to lift for this card. We were required to make at least one homemade card and an embellishment. So I made my own ribbon flower with lace trim. For my homemade embellishment requirement I created a pin thats attached to the flower. This card has more sparkles than I can capture on the photo due to the fairy dust glitter on the dusty attic chipboard frame. For this card, I used the October Swirlydoos kit which inclued the Bo Bunny "The Avenues" paper line.

Swirlydoos Nov Cards RR

Today, I am posting a creation I made for the first round of the CARDS Round Robin Challenge at the Swirlydoos Kit Club. This card is for Team 4 and I am very excited to see how my card will be lifted for the next 2 weeks. For this card, I used an older Swirlydoos kit called Brass Shilling which contained the Kaisercraft 75 Cents paper line. I also used a new product that I am falling in love with... the Shimmerz Tezturez in Patina.  For the twist, we had to add something metallic so I added the gold metallic ribbon.

Thank you for reviewing my blog today.

"New Beginning"

Well, I had the opportunity to finally scrap since the kids started school. We are still adjusting to the our new schedules with homework and activities. To give myself a little push towards some scrapping time, I signed up for the September Round Robin and September Card Round Robin Challenges at Swirlydoos Kit Club. I was very excited to scrap and I finished both assignments....

But... Im only allowed to show one today. Today, we had to post our "New Beginnings" layout. In this layout, my new beginning was a fresh start of a new trend my husband and I committed too. For this layout, I added a bunch of symbolism and hidden journaling for us to remember this day forward. I used an older kit from Swirlydoos that had the Glitz Vintage Blue paper line.  The only art medium techniques used on this layout is on the prima frame using inka gold and twinkling H2Os.

Thank you for taking the time to review my artwork and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

August Prima PPP

Good Evening,

I am very excited to have the time to participate in the prima challenges again. This time I was very inspired by the August Prima PPP color palette. For this layout, I decided to use a paint medium that I havent used before. This time I used twinkling H2Os for my coloring on the background instead of glimmermist. I love working with these watercolors.

For this layout, I used the following Prima products:
Pattern Paper: Divine and Lyric
Embellishments: Wood buttons # 564995, Typo Zippers #891558, Vintage Trinkets #960407, Honeycomb stamp #960902, Say it in Crystals #551438, Industrial lamps #891572
Flowers: Romance Novel #562298, Overture C # 561529, Romantique #552503

Cards and Mixed Media

Good Morning,

Here is another project I created with the July Swirlydoos Kit. I decided to create a card for the Butterfly challenge instead of a layout. I love to create cards and invitations. I feel there is nothing more personal and meaniful than a homemade card with a nice sentiment.

For this card I was exicted to play with the Ferro texture paste that came in the mixed media add on. Everything that was used on this card came from the Swirlydoos kits and store except for the Jenni Bowlin label.

I truly love how this ferro texture paste spreads easily over a prima mask. Since I was having so much fun with this medium, I decided to make another card with the Prima sunrise papers.

All the items used on this card is from the swirlydoos kits and store except for the trinket.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.

Vacation is OVER!!

Wow... Its been a while since my last blog post. During the months of June and July, I took a break to focus on the kids as they finish the school year, dance recitals, family camping trips, and etc. It was a break my children deserve as I spent quality time with them. Now its August, I am ready to get back in the groove of scrapping (MY TIME). I missed it dearly but seeing my swirlydoos kits arrive monthly was a special treat even though I was not scrapping.

So I was very excited to start playing with the latest main kit and the new mixed media kit from Swirlydoos. I am in LOVE with the new mixed media kit from Swirlydoos. I love playing with new mediums and color. So for this layout, I didnt have a particular challenge in mind. I wanted to play freely with the July kit. I had a wonderful time playing with the embellies and the prima sunrise papers.

This layout is of my daughter at her 5th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. In this layout, I added the following mediums: modeling paste, bead gel medium, silk acrylic paint, martha stewart texture paste. Most of the mediums was added in the corners of the layout and around the photo using random splotches and prima masks.

Thank you for taking the time out to visit my blog today. I appreciate all comments that have been left recently.

Blue Fern June Sketch Challenge

Hopefully, my scrappy plans stay on schedule this month. Art is my most favorite hobby to run to for a stress relief. Since I know the next free months may cause some stressful days, I really do not want to put my hobby on the back burner due to my busy schedule. So, I was able to combine a few challenges into this one layout. I pray no one is offended by this, but I have a desire to participate at a few favorite places but sometimes my obligations prevent me from creating one for each one. So I plan and try to combine when I can.

I adored the blue fern sketch as soon as I seen the blog post this past weekend. I LOVE that chain chipboard that I just received in May. Here is the June Blue Fern Sketch:

I created a layout with a picture of my handsome son. He is such a momma boy and so "Simply perfect" in my eyes. Here is my version of this sketch

For this layout I used the Prima Engraver, Prima Printery and Theresa Collins papers. All the flowers are prima.

Featured at Prima & May Projects

Good Evening,

I am really not trying to neglect my blog but the next few months will be very busy for me. I wanted to combine this post with a few projects I created while I was MIA from the internet, forums, and blogs. I did manage to complete a Round Robin challenge at Flying Unicorn and Card Round Robin challenge at Swirlydoos.

I have made alot of effort to try to attempt at least one Prima challenges every month. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to get any of the Prima May Challenges done. BUT, I am so excited to say I was featured for the month of April in the Prima BAP and PPP.

So here are my Prima projects:

TCR # 147 and CSI #65

Good Evening,

I have a few projects I have completed within the last two weeks or so for a couple of challenges. The Color Room is a challenge site I have been admiring lately and havent played since a couple years ago. When I saw the beautiful special edition pallete with the pinks for 13arts, I couldnt wait to play.

So I decided play around with a 6x8 canvas, prima mask, modeling paste, gesso, glimmermists, and my March Swirlydoos Kit.

Journaling reads: "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Also, had the opportunity to play with the next CSI challenge. It was an interesting challenge with the color scheme and evidence choices.  I also combined this challenge with the SGC Sloppy Spring challenge at Swirlydoos. I used a mixture modeling paste, glimmermists, and older Swirlydoos kits from June 2011 and Oct 2011.

My evidence was the something spiral and the bird. My testimony is the journaling in 3 parts.

March layouts

Good Afternoon and Happy Easter Everyone,

I am having a blessed day today with my family celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.

I also would like to make a quick post of my last two layouts created this month for two challenges. A week ago, I received some Maja Design papers from a very close friend. I was very excited about the quality of those papers and the opportunity to play with March Maja Mood Board.  This layout is a photo of my baby sister years ago on an Easter Sunday. As we were reflecting how she turned 16 on March 2, when I saw this photo flipping through photos of my daughter. I knew I had to scrap this photo and send it as a gift to her.

My second layout was created for the CSI Challenge. This is my first time playing at this challenge ning site too. The colors in this challenge matches will with the March Swirlydoos Kit and a few personal prima and dusty attic goodies from my stash. I typically avoid papers with large printed words so I was interested in challenging myself with that prima engraver sheet. I was kind of happy with the results. This is a photo of my daughter a couple years ago for her first day of school.

Well, my post have to be short and sweet. My college basketball team, UNIVERSITY of MICHIGAN , is playing right now in the elite 8 for the NCAA tournament. Bring back memories of when I was a student with season tickets.  Have a good day.

Exploring Art Journaling

I have been researching all about the different techniques and styles of art journaling for a while. I love the freedom and peace it seems to provide those who try.  I even took time to investigate what type of art journal I wanted to have. But I never ordered or even attempted to try it.

Only God knew, I had in my heart to try this level of creativity to express my feelings and emotions. So as I made it to week 5 of the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge, the requirements was ART JOURNALING. So I was very excited but it definitely gave me a challenge for the week. I am very happy with how things turned out even though it wasnt what I had in my head. For my art journal entries, I created my own signatures out of 22x30 watercolor paper.

Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge - Week 4

Good Evening,

Well this week challenge for the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge involved creating a background on a canvas with any mediums. This challenge was exciting and fun but the drying time for the different layers was a pain.

Have you ever had an image in your head for a project and it just does not look like the way you created it in your brain? That is what happen with my entry for week 4. I had a beach layout in mind for my son & daughter but this canvas had its own unique way of developing.

So for my canvas, I created multiple layers with different mediums with my base being a Tattered Angels glimmermist, Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst & Moonshadow mists. I also added layers of gel medium, modeling paste, Creative imagination silk paint, and Gesso. I do love the way it turned out. And I am excited to start a girly canvas soon for my daughter with chipboard and flowers.

This canvas contain a photo of my son walking along the beach during our annual family reunion camping trip.

Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge

I am very excited to say I have made it to week 4 of the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge. I am a little behind in my blogposts due to internet & cable issues.

So I would like to dedicate this blog post to my last 3 entries for the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge.

For week 1, we were required to create our own 3D embellishment from chipboard. I used a dusty attic french window and the for 6 window squares I wanted to create a mosiac window. So I used egg shells, gel medium, alcohol ink, and glossy accents. Then I decorated the rest of the french window with white paint & flowers.

My Embellishment

My layout is of my two children last year one sunday morning.

For week 2, we were required to create a multilayered layout. For this challenge, I created a layout with 10+ layers. This was really my first time using so many layers on a layout. The photo is of my daughter meeting my son for the first time.

For week 3, we were required to use foil tape on a layout, card, or altered item. I decided to use my new favorite thing which is a 4x4 in canvas.  This was my first time ever using foil tape. I decided to use the embossing technique which was shown by DT member Miranda Ednay. I covered the whole canvas with embossed foil tape and then painted it with black paint. I wiped off the black tape so only the paint stay around the crevices. I added a little cranberry alcohol to make things stand out a bit. The cupid photo is from a good friend of mine, Jennifer Synder. I greatly appreciate her allowing me to use this image.

I am having a lovely time playing along in this contest. It provides such a nice stress reliever to create something weekly. Thank you for leaving lovely comments on my blog posts. Thank you for taking the time to look at my projects.

Have a good night.

Layers, Round Robin & Swirlydoos....

Good evening,

So for the month of January, I signed up to play the Round Robin Challenge at Swirlydoos again. This time I had to follow and scraplift Linda's beautiful layout which had about 6 or more layers. I realized while scraplifting her layout that I typically do not use that many layers. It was definitely a challenge for me that I was determined to accomplish. So I choose my May 2012 Swirlydoos Kit and a family photo from our first road trip with the babies. This is picture of us outside the entrance to the MLK monument in Washington DC.

For my layout I used Donna Salazar, 7 gypsies and Bazzill cardstock. I also had to use my favorite go- to product which is glimmermist (electric blue and cranberry zing). I added flowers, resin chair and gray ink from Prima. Then added a few petaloo flowers to accent the white flowers and chair.

I also used white heuy mist on my fountain with ice silk paint. Unfortunately, the picture does not capture the sparkles and glimmer on the fountain.

Have a good night!

Cardabilities Sketch #66

I am so excited about playing in different challenges that I never had chance to participate in last year.
This is my first time playing the Cardabilities Sketches. Since I was leading a team in the Card Round Robin for Swirlydoos, I decided this was a good time to play at Cardabilities.

Cardabilities sketch #66 gave me some inspiration to use with my July Swirlydoos Kit. For this card, I used the Kaisercraft Lakehouse Collection papers.

Supplies: Pattern Papers: Kaisercraft Lakehouse; Flowers: Petaloo and Misc; Leaves: Petaloo; Clock: Prima; Mist: Viva Pink Tattered Angels; Misc Supplies: metal heart & doile

This challenge ends tonight at midnight but you should try to participate in their other upcoming challenges.

Have a great day!
